Michael Lazar:
Frontman for TWOFEW

Michael Lazar, the dynamic force behind the popular Phoenix rock band Complicate/Simple, has run the gambit on a captivating new musical journey with TWOFEW. A true renaissance man of music, Lazar showcases his talents as a vocalist, guitarist, and pianist, leading TWOFEW with the same passion and artistry that has made him a beloved figure in the Phoenix music scene.

The seeds of TWOFEW were sown when Lazar, after a 20-year hiatus, rekindled his love for the piano. Inspired by this newfound creative spark, he enlisted his wife, Danielle, on bass, his brother David on guitar (whom he’s shared stages with across three regional acts), and drummer John Sebring, who held down the rhythm section for three solid years.

What’s more, as John relocated to Steamboat, Colorado, longtime collaborator Kyle Norwood happened to be making his move back to Arizona—an unexpected timing that made the transition seamless and brought things full circle behind the kit.

In just a few short years, TWOFEW has carved out a place of its own. Their debut album "Lips Blue" drew critical acclaim, showcasing a blend of raw lyrics, infectious melodies, and tight musicianship.

The momentum only grew with the release of their second record, "Lovestruck," a bold step forward in both songwriting and sound. Now deep into recording their third album, "Happenstance," which is slated for a late 2026 release—the band is gearing up for their biggest chapter yet.

They’re set to kick off their 2026 tour by opening for the legendary Strawberry Alarm Clock at Whisky a Go Go, marking the first tour with returning drummer Kyle Norwood. His recent rejoining of TWOFEW reignites a rhythmic fire that goes way back, bringing fresh energy to a band that’s still evolving, still climbing, and still writing its story one song at a time.

From the electrifying rock anthems of Complicate/Simple to the soul-stirring melodies of TWOFEW, Michael Lazar's musical journey is a testament to his boundless creativity and unwavering passion. As he continues to push the boundaries of his artistry, Lazar invites listeners to join him on this extraordinary adventure, where music becomes a powerful expression of the human experience.

Danielle Lazar:
Rhythmic Foundation of TWOFEW

Danielle Lazar, the talented bassist for TWOFEW, provides the steady pulse and rhythmic backbone that drives the band's unique sound. As the wife of frontman Michael Lazar, she was a founding member of this exciting musical project that emerged from the ashes of Complicate/Simple.

Her journey with TWOFEW didn’t just begin beside Michael—it helped build the foundation. Long before the band had a name, Danielle, Michael, and Kyle were shaping the early sonic tone of what would become TWOFEW inside the old Complicate/Simple studio. She was the bassist on “Kyle’s Corner”—a track written about Kyle and his infamous drum setup in that very room—and played on several other songs from Michael and Kyle’s pre-TWOFEW record, "Blue."

So when the project grew from idea to full-on band, Danielle’s bass lines were already baked into its DNA—rooted in those early sessions with Michael and Kyle inside the Complicate/Simple studio. Her playing locked in tightly with Michael’s melodies, David’s guitar work, and John Sebring’s drums during the band’s first three years.

What’s more, her fingerprints were already on tracks like “Kyle’s Corner” and others from the Blue record, and they’ve stayed on every stage of the band’s evolution—from first demos to sold-out shows.

In just a few years, TWOFEW has released multiple, critically acclaimed albums. Danielle's contributions have been instrumental in the band's success, and she continues to be an integral part of their creative process.

Beyond her musical talents, Danielle's presence adds a layer of warmth and family connection to TWOFEW. Her dedication to the band and her unwavering support of Michael's vision has been incremental in shaping TWOFEW into the dynamic and promising musical force it is today.

David Lazar:
Melodic Maestro and Lifelong TWOFEW Collaborator

David Lazar, the talented guitarist for TWOFEW, adds a rich layer of melodic texture and depth to the band's sound. A seasoned musician with a history of collaboration with frontman Michael Lazar, David's musical journey has been intertwined with his brother's for years, spanning three previous regional acts. Now, as an integral part of TWOFEW, David's guitar work complements the band's unique blend of heartfelt lyrics and infectious melodies.

David's presence in TWOFEW doesn’t just elevate the sound—it anchors the soul of the band. His guitar work has shaped the emotional backbone of both "Lips Blue" and "Lovestruck," where his melodic instincts and raw tone helped define the band’s evolving style.

What sets David apart isn’t just his technical skill—it’s the deep-rooted connection he shares with Michael, built over years of playing in previous projects together. That brotherly chemistry cuts through in every live set and studio take.

As TWOFEW heads into its third record, "Happenstance," with a late 2026 release on deck, and Kyle Norwood back behind the kit, David remains a core creative force. His consistency and drive are part of what keeps TWOFEW pushing forward, always chasing the next song, the next show, the next moment.

Kyle Norwood Joins TWOFEW: Percussive Mastery in Motion

Starting this fall, we’ll be joined by a familiar face behind the drums—Kyle Norwood. If you've been following the Arizona music scene for a while, you probably already know the name. Kyle’s not just some hired gun—he’s family. He and TWOFEW’s lead singer and pianist, Michael Lazar, have a decade-long history of creating music together, starting with their time in the alt-rock outfit Complicate/Simple.

That chemistry? It’s built in. You can’t fake what these two have. They’ve already logged hours in the studio, cut tracks that still hold weight, and played shows that left rooms buzzing. Bringing that energy into TWOFEW just makes sense.

Kyle grew up digging deep into the roots of rock and indie while always keeping one ear on what was next. His style blends raw, emotional power with an uncanny sense of control—he’s the kind of drummer who can blow the roof off and still leave space where the music needs to breathe.

Before joining TWOFEW, Kyle was Michael’s go-to drummer in Complicate/Simple for nearly 10 years. Together, they developed a rhythmic language that ran deeper than the setlist. And now, that same fire is coming back—with more purpose, more focus, and a band ready to push it all forward.

Onstage, Kyle brings this unshakable drive that lifts the entire band. Offstage, he’s the rock in the room—lowkey, steady, and all about the music. He’s not interested in showing off. He’s here to serve the song. And with TWOFEW, that mission just found its perfect rhythm section.

This next chapter for TWOFEW is already shaping up to be something heavy—in the best way possible. With Kyle behind the kit, expect every track, every show, every single moment to hit harder, louder, and sharper than ever.
