TWOFEW began as a side project when Michael-Jon Lazar, founder of the popular Phoenix rock outfit, Complicate/Simple, picked up the piano again. Following a 20 year hiatus, Michael spent a few years shaking the dust off on his piano licks and working on developing new music. When his band suddenly lost their bassist, Michael’s wife, Danielle Lazar, stepped in to fill the shoes for a few months. Following the transition to a new bass player, the Lazar duo formed TWOFEW as a Vocal/Piano/Bass outfit.
Shortly after, they added Michael’s brother, David Lazar, to the group on lead guitar. After composing their debut single, “On The Run,” the band had finally found its purpose and direction. They immediately booked studio sessions to record the song and produce the music video, releasing it just six weeks later. A few weeks after that, the group dropped another single and music video, "Dreamin,'" which has received raving reviews and has captured them a dedicated fan base. Following the success of this track, Michael-Jon disbanded Complicate/Simple to pursue adventures in TWOFEW. The group quickly found a new home at Mind Rage Music Studios. The more complete focus and a stronger supporting cast was perfectly timed for the band to start working with major label producers in Nashville.
In July, 2021, the band added John Grigsby as their drummer -- he comes with years of National touring experience and related advanced music recording and performing degrees. Later in July, the group added Phoenix guitar legend, Mike Liebbe, as their new rhythm guitarist. The group just released a music video and single called "Fighting For" in August, 2021. The band is immediately following that up with a brand-new single called "LIPSBLUE" in the winter, with another single called "SO EASY" to directly follow it, and yet another called "I'll Look After You" as well as "GONE." Currently, TWOFEW are busy recording, rehearsing and preparing for the bright future ahead.
